Geoff and Laura traveled to New Orleans to celebrate Luni Gras (the day before Mardi Gras) this year! We met up with some friends and had a great time! We went to parades, ate amazing food and drinks (including Purple Drank, king cake and crawfish étouffée). We easily came home with 20 pounds of throws and gave away another 20 more pounds of beads, cups, frisbees, socks, and trinkets.
We also went to the ATX TV Festival. We attended a few great panels and enjoyed our time! Laura also traveled to her company's offsite in the summer.
Since we didn't travel to Europe this year, we decided to do the next best thing and visit the German tourist town of Helen, Georgia. We had a lovely time at a Bavarian hall, and stayed at a gorgeous mountaintop inn with a one lane road as an entrace. We're glad we brought the Maverick.
Home
In June, Geoff's parents came for a visit and Geoff and his dad built a staircase on the steep hill next to our house.
We enjoy spending time with all this area has to offer.
Europe
Why a Europe tab if we didn't go to Europe?
Through a series of kismet events, Geoff found out that he is eligible for Slovakia / EU citizenship. He is now in the process of applying for dual citizenship jus sanguinis (by descent).
We are very excited and we spend time waiting by the mailbox for documents to arrive from the National Archives, various states and apostille offices.
Through ancestral research, we found out Geoff is a descendant of Revolutionary War patriot Oliver Kenyon of Rhode Island.
Laura is still extremely German, Swedish and Norwegian. She is currently an A2 German speaker and hopes to build on her skills in the future.
Life
The picture above is a picture of us at the Bristol Motor Speedway, we were able to go around the track as part of a Young Professionals event. We went 60mph and that was plenty.
Geoff hit his 8 year anniversary at Angi (Home Advisor) as an android engineer and Laura is still at Hims & Hers as a software engineer.
In July Laura was appointed as a Commissioner on a Regional Planning Commission. She is honored to serve her community.
In August Geoff and Laura joined a supper club, we have met some neat folks while enjoying meals sourced from local farmers. We love and support our local agricultural community.
Laura attended a fiddle compeition in April, it was a lot of fun!
Geoff and Laura are very thankful for their health, wonderful friends, and family.
